AI Chat Context Monitor is a Chrome browser extension that counts the number of messages in your Claude.ai chat sessions and displays a visual indicator to help you manage context quality.

Data We Collect

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• No message content is read or recorded.
• No browsing history is tracked.
• No personally identifiable information is collected.
• No data is sent to any external server.

How the Extension Works

The extension counts the number of visible message elements on the claude.ai page using local browser DOM inspection. This count is stored temporarily in your browser's local memory only and is reset when you close the tab or switch to a new chat. Nothing leaves your device.

Permissions Used

• activeTab – to read the current tab's page content for message counting.
• scripting – to inject the counting script into claude.ai pages.
• tabs – to detect when you switch between chats so the counter resets correctly.

The extension only activates on claude.ai pages. It does not run on any other website.

Third-Party Services

The popup contains an optional link to Ko-fi for voluntary support. Clicking this link opens Ko-fi's website in a new tab. Ko-fi's own privacy policy applies to any interaction on their platform.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of any changes.
